Race Track Design Competition – Kick-started!
Hong Kong’s first-ever world-class car event, the International MotorXpo Hong Kong (IMXHK) 2020, will be held in July this year. The organiser, International Motor Show (HK) Management Limited, joins hands with Hong Kong Wen Wei Management College and ProRacing Sim and Training Centre, along with the full support from the Education Bureau, Cyberport, and Hong Kong Automobile Association, to launch the inaugural Hong Kong Inter-school Race Track Design Competition for non-tertiary students to showcase their creativity by designing unique and localised virtual racing circuits of Hong Kong.
Aiming at instilling a sense of belonging towards the city and further promoting STEAM education in Hong Kong, the competition was kick-started with a briefing session on 18 Jan 2020 (last Sat) with the participation of about a hundred contestants and teachers at IVE (Tsing Yi). One of the competition judges, Founder of ProRacing Mr Thomas Leung introduced the competition details with very useful tips and tricks at the briefing, to help participants gain a deeper understanding of the competition and better prepare for the competition.
The organisers will also arrange free workshops and online consultation sessions throughout the competition to equip participants’ skills in using the designated software 3Ds Max sponsored by AutoDesk, enhance track layout and details. All finalist teams will be given scholarship and their works will be installed at simulators for visitors’ trial experience at the IMSHK, which may even be further developed into localised Hong Kong eSports games in the future.
